One-Click Installation of WordPress with Blue Host

Published in: CMS, Ecommerce, Tips & Tricks, WordPress — Tags: , , , , , , — jai

Selecting a Web Host is one of the key decisions that you will have to make when starting out a blog or a website.  There are many factors to consider, but ease in setting up your content management system and/or ecommerce solution is one of those factors.  While installation is one time, you also need to consider ease in future updating of the software.  This is where Simple Scripts, a new installation service, should be a big part of your web host decision.

SimpleScripts is a one-click installer for the web’s most popular applications including WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, osCommerce, Zen Cart, Magento and more. No technical experience is required for these installations.  When a web hosting company like Blue Host, HostMonster, or FastDomain offers SimpleScripts, the process automatically checks and ensures that your web hosting account is compatible with the product you want to install.  Then it automatically installs the program for you. No time wasted downloading software, sending it to your hosting account, running installation and configuration utilities. SimpleScripts does the hard work for you and even better, when updates come out, the same one-click process applies to the updating.

Let’s take a look at how simple the process is with Blue Host and WordPress.  As you look at the example, realize that Blue Host and Simple Scripts can offer the same thing for Drupal, Joomla, osCommerce, Zen Cart, Magento and more.

  1. Login to your BlueHost account.  Once logged in you will be at the main admin page which is also known as cPanel.
  2. From your cPanel look for the icon named Simple Scripts and double-click on it.bluehost1
  3. The next screen is Simple Scripts and look for the WordPress option and click on it.
  4. Click on Install Now
  5. When asked “What version of Wordpress would you like to install?” you should take the default which is always the current and most stable version.bluehost2
  6. Pick the location on your server to place the files. Unless you are running multiple applications on this one site, the default should be fine.bluehost3
  7. Name your site
  8. Leave the Advanced Configuration options (Generate a random Administrator username and password for me, Automatically create a new database) checked.
  9. Agree to the legal terms (two checkboxes).
  10. Click Complete
  11. Wait a few moments for your site to be built
  12. Copy down the admin login name and password

Compare this to the installation options discussed in this post on WordPress installation and you’ll realize the true value of Blue Host and Simple Scripts in making WordPress installations easy!
