WordPress themes are files and styles that work together to create a presentation or look for a WordPress site. Each theme may be different, offering many choices for users to take advantage of in order to instantly change their website and get a unique look.

Let’s first look at the default WordPress theme. You can a see the basic sections that WordPress provides - header, body or content area, sidebar and footer. The sidebar contains widgets which you can think of as sub-sections to the sidebar. The widgets allow you to display things like search, blogroll which is a list of links and links to other pages.

Anybody can customize and create their own WordPress theme - it just requires knowledge of CSS, HTML, and PHP in order to have a good looking website. However, many people want to create and/or run their business and not become programmers. This is where CustomWeb2 comes into the picture with themes and packages of themes that you can purchase.

The CW2 Biz theme you see below has options for the header, body or content area, sidebar and footer just like the default theme. However, now you also have two sidebars instead of one, a banner area and a sub category menu area. Going a step deeper, this theme has widgets built into the sidebars to allow for advertisements, subscriptions and lists of recent posts.

The ultimate value of these themes is that you can customize theme even more - but without having to learn languages like CSS and PHP. With menus and text boxes you fill in you can customize the color, the logos, the ads or images that are displayed and the text itself. You can focus on the content that is unique to your business - not on the technical construction of a theme.

The CW2 WP-E theme you see below has a different set of options with one content area, one sidebar, different color choices and different font selections. The beauty of WordPress is that your content and the presenentation (the theme) are separate. So you could switch from the CW2 Biz theme to the CW2 WP-E theme without losing any of your work. Your content will look different - but you won’t need to retype anything!!!

This highlights one of the key reasons for our Templates Club. Obviously if you have multiple sites the club is valuable, but even with one site - you can try out the different themes till you find the look and feel that is perfect. And if you business changes or evolves - so can your WordPress theme!
